Fantastic Fundraising

Whilst many of us spent our summer holiday relaxing on the beach with an ice cream in hand, one of our Year 9 students had other plans...

Lily decided to run 100 miles in August to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust. On the 31st August, she completed her challenge with the final 6 mile run and was cheered across the finish line by friends and family. Not only was she the youngest participant in the fundraiser at just 13 years old, she also smashed her target of £150 and ended up raising over £1,140!

The Teenage Cancer Trust are the only UK charity dedicated to supporting young people through their treatment and when Lily found out that they were holding a fundraiser, she was keen to help out and pledge her support.

More about the charity's invaluable work can be found on their website: https://www.teenagecancertrust.org/

Even as a keen cross country runner, 100 miles was no mean feat. Impressively, Lily's longest run was 11 miles long! Throughout her challenge, Lily was accompanied by her dad and she says that she

'couldn't have done it without my dad supporting me all the way round'.

Her message to anyone wanting to start their own fundraiser is one of support and community spirit:

'You just need fans and people supporting you to start raising a bit of money.'

Her journey was documented on a dedicated Facebook page which shows her incredible commitment to the cause: https://www.facebook.com/donate/408327363950737/?fundraiser_source=external_url

Congratulations, Lily!
